Festival of Cycling set to get in gear this weekend

The Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge series of events kick off this weekend with the Children’s Cycle Challenge on Saturday and the Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday.

“The Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is an event that the whole city can get excited about – whether participating or supporting,” said 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Ravi Naidoo.   “To include a broader audience of participants, we’ve grown the range of events so that cyclists of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy the festival of cycling.”

 

Ride with top international riders in the Cycle Challenge

Momentum has secured four top international professional cyclists to join the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge on 20 November.

Dan Martin from team Garmin Cervelo is a top 10 UCI ranked cyclist worldwide. He will be joined by brothers Dean Downing from team Rapha-Condor-Sharp andRuss Downing from Team Sky. Completing the quartet will be cycling legend, Stephen Roche who is a Triple crown winner, meaning he won the Tour de France, Giro D’Italia and World Champs in one year – next year will be the 25^th anniversary of this phenomenal achievement.

SA Road Team Announced for African Continental Champs – ERI

21 October 2011 – Cycling South Africa has selected a strong team to participate in the African Continental Championships to be held in Asmara, Eritrea from 9 to 13 November 2011.
